Which Is Better, EVA Insole or PU Insole?

Over this years, with the emphasis on sport health, more and more people around us have gradually paid attention to the insole. At the same time, with the development of materials technology, there are insoles of novel materials that make our choices more various. But which is the most suitable type for us? Today I will mainly compare the EVA and PU insole.

1. PU Insole

PU is an abbreviation of “Polyurethane”. Since only a modest modification of the formulation is required, physical properties such as density, elasticity, and rigidity can be obtained. At present, a large number of glass fiber insulation materials, wood, and traditional rubber products have been replaced.

PU leather is a second layer of leather whose reverse side is cowhide. It is covered with a layer of PU resin on the surface, so it is also called film cowhide. Because of its low price, its utilization rate is higher than other insole materials. With the change of the producing process, it is also made into numerous grades, such as imported two-layer cowhide. Due to its unique craftsmanship, stable quality and novel varieties, it is regarded as high-grade leather, which price and grade are no less than the top layer of leather.

PU leather and leather bags have their own characteristics. PU leather bags have a beautiful appearance. It is also quite easy to clean. What is the most important is it has a low price. The true leather is very expensive, troublesome but durable.

PU insole is currently used in most middle and high-end sports insoles. The advantages are that the elasticity is good and in a long-term wear will not be deformed. The disadvantage is that its breathability is not good.

2. EVA Insole

EVA is an ethylene-vinyl acetate (vinyl acetate) copolymer which is obtained by copolymerization of ethylene (E) and vinyl acetate (VA). Compared with polyethylene, EVA has reduced vinylation owing to the introduction of vinyl acetate monomer in the molecular chain, improving flexibility, impact resistance, filler compatibility and heat sealing performance. In general, the performance of EVA resins depends primarily on the amount of vinyl acetate on the molecular chain. Due to the adjustable composition ratio to meet different application requirements, which will improve the content of VA content, the transparency, softness and toughness.

EVA resin is a blended foamed product. It has a pleasant softness. Its flexibility, chemical resistance and other properties also gets the target. So there is a wide range of applications, such as low-end travel shoes, hiking shoes, slippers, sandals soles.

But the shortcomings of EVA insole are also very obvious. This material is not breathable, and easy to cause foot odor.

Personally, I think PU insole is better than EVA insole. Although generally EVA insole is a little cheaper than PU insole, PU insole is more beautiful and durable than EVA insole. If let you choose, which one will you choose?
